East River Ferry Celebrates 1 Millionth Passenger

Mayor Bloomberg and City Council Speaker Quinn were on hand to mark the occasion and to highlight the service as an important part of the city's transportation network.The East River Ferry service launched June 13, 2011 as part of Mayor Bloomberg's Waterfront Vision and Enhancement Strategy (WAVES), an initiative to provide improved utilization of the City's waterfront and waterways.
